My soap making process
Making soap was a natural choice for me due to my struggles with eczema and the high cost of commercial bath and lotion products. I delved into YouTube videos on soap and lotion crafting, and soon found myself completely engrossed in the process.
Creating homemade soap and lotion is a fulfilling hobby that not only benefits your skin but also provides a potential opportunity to share these products with others. Transitioning into this craft after retirement can offer you a relaxing and productive pastime.
To start my journey, I began by researching where to purchase the necessary items. I compared prices and evaluated which companies appeared dedicated to supporting my success.
As I did my research, I discovered that I could make cold process soaps or melt and pour soaps. While I love the process of cold soap making, I quickly decided that it was not for me. I have emphysema, so working with Lye could be risky for me.
When one receives their supplies and prepares to make their first soap, it's common to feel intimidated. This apprehension can lead to delaying the process, finding other tasks to prioritize before diving into soap making.
My first soap was my oatmeal and honey soap. Yes! For me! It turned out wonderful and when I used it in the shower, I was so happy. It felt wonderful on my skin and helped to moisturize my very dry skin. Well, now I am hooked!
At Granny's Homemade Soap, we appreciate the creativity and inspiration that comes from observing and learning from others in the soap making community. While we may draw inspiration from various sources, we take pride in developing our unique ideas that result in our original creations. Crafting each product with care and individuality is at the heart of Granny's Homemade Soap.

Combining my two loves.
I love making soap and I simply love True Crime! I decided to combine the two, make soap while I discuss a case.
In the video below, I discuss the disappearance of Sebastian Rogers, a 15-year-old autistic male from Hendersonville, TN. Watch me make my Sea Salt bar while discussing this sad case.
